Getting to Carnegie Cello Competition took place on January 17, 2016 at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall. In a sold-out event which was organized by 2NYC and Julian Gargiulo, the four finalists, Anita Bálazs (Hungary, age 24) from The Franz Liszt Academy, Anna Litvinenko (Ukraine/Cuba, age 22) from The Juilliard School, Jacques-Pierre Malan (South Africa, age 28) from The Peabody Institute, and Chae won Hong (South Korea, age 25) from Michigan State University played it out in front of an excited crowd. Julian left it up to his favorite New York audience to decide which one of the cellists performed his sonata best. In the end, it was a passionate performance by Chae won Hong of the Sonata's Tango movement that prevailed. For a full story and interview with the four finalists, read the Huffington Post story.
